FAQs
Common questions

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
No, a referral is not required unless you would like to claim a Medicare rebate for your clinical therapy sessions. In this case please contact your GP to discuss a referral. You may be eligible for a rebate for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.

Alternatively, you may be able to claim against your private health insurance. We recommend that you check with your fund to see if this is the case.

What is the cost of a session?
Individual therapy sessions and Mental Performance sessions are 60 minutes in length, and the current fee is $230.

The cost of participation in a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) group is advised prior to group commencement. As a guide, previous course fees have been $800 for an eight-week program (8 weeks x 2 hours + a full day). You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for group sessions (please discuss with your GP).
How many sessions will I need?
This is dependent on each individual client and their goals for therapy. When we begin we will spend some time identifying your goals, and check in regularly to ensure we are staying on track and making progress on your goals.
When clients have longer-standing issues, it is more common that they will benefit from longer-term therapy. Some clients choose to have a regular "check-in" following a block of therapy. We will discuss what best meets your needs as we work together.

For Mental Performance sessions, you can expect to gain the most benefit from approximately 5-6 appointments.
